Modak is a Maharashtrian sacred recipe and is specially made for Lord Ganesha. During the festival of Ganesh Chaturti, this recipe is made in every home in Maharashtra.
Mrs. Hema Wane, who is a working professional and a housewife gave this recipe on how to make a Modak.
Ingredients:
- Rice Flour(1 cup)
- Water (1 cup)
- Grated coconut (1 cup)
- Jaggery (1/3 cup)
- Cardamom (1)
Method:
- Boil 1 cup water, add rice flour and mix. Switch off the flame, after few minute mix it to form a dough consistency and keep it aside.
- Heat a pan, add jaggery, coconut and cardamom and mix well till the jaggery melts and coconut mixes well. The filling for the modak is ready.
- Make a bowl shape of the rice flour and add the filling in it. Close the upper part as shown in the video to form a Modak shape.
- Steam the modak for about 20 mintues. Switch off the flame and keep it aside for some time.
Server Modak when warm or at room temperature.
